UK Hot tub pump blowing fuse

Dont know much about motor testing but I have the following results. Pump was working fine until recently but blows fuse as soon as energised. The pump is 7amp max and was fused at 10a, glass type. I got 4 ohms between live and neutral at the pump terminals and >100 megs to earth. I have no idea other than a new pumps around 200 quid. Wiring all looks fine as does pump terminal block. Not sure what erase I can test?

Testing at the motor terminals you will be testing both windings in parallel you would need to test the run and start windings separately
It could also be that the start capacitor that has failed, I have replaced quite a few capacitors on hot tub pumps over the years when the pump has stopped

Also worth pulling the hose off of the end of the pump, so that you can see the rotor, check that it will turn, and ntjammed by debris.

Access is tight.... and I have no idea why that has come out upside down!

Ah ok, how would the capacitor affected the starting current?

The start capacitor changes the phase angle of the start winding which gives the motor it's direction

If I suspect a faulty start cap I usually remove the black fan cover (on the left side in your pic) on the motor and with the motor energised spin the fan impeller to check the motor runs ok

And with a duff one, it just sits there, not knowing which way to turn, but drawing considerably more than its normal run current.
