hi all . i was just wondering the usall Kw of a hot tub. and what way you would all install it. eg. Cu in to a islotor close to the hot tub in SWA and then flex from there??? all help would be great thanks

Malcolm - Thanks for the advice, seems sensible to do it that way, and I agree the less joins the better. Just thought I may be compromising the IP rating and didn't want to take any chances, so thanks for the reassurance.

Its approx 30m back to consumer unit at direct opposite end of house. All I know is that the tub being wired in needs a 32A supply and I plan to use a 32A RCBO (I could probably have got away with smaller cable but wanted to oversize due to the cable length and in case of future upgrade - noticed that some tubs need 40 / 50 Amp supplies).

Interesting debate about the earth rod. The tub will be on top of reinforced decking approx 500mm off the ground and about 2m from house - is the consensus that it would be a good idea to install one?

There are plenty of tubs which 'require a 32A supply' but actually pull just 22 - 24 amps at full chat, in which case a 4mm circuit may be all that is required, with 6mm being a sensible choice (especially if the calcs are on the edge with 4mm).
I would therefore suggest you research the model to determine your design current.
Then ensure your client is happy to stand the premium for a 10mm cable he may not need! At TLC prices you're adding about £60 to the cable cost over 6mm (never mind 4mm if that would suffice)!!!

All I'm saying really is don't go mad over over engineering it at the clients expense. They're unlikley to thank you for it. And even if you are going to over engineer it, you should still nail down your design parameters as a baseline.

Thanks for the advice. Bit difficult to plan as the hot tub model not known yet for definite, and electrics need to be in before plastering, so been told to treat as an absolute worst case scenario and also need to provision for future upgrades also. OTT but there we are!

Thanks again !
