welsh spark

Hi all,
HI all im a self employed spark and will shortly looking to take on another spark for doing mainly domestic instalations and was just wondering what sort of hourly rate i would need to be paying im based in swansea south wales any advice would be grateley appreciated.

Thanks Alan

ÂŁ15 an hour.ÂŁ120 over an 8 hour day.Depends where they live as well mate.May want more. How much would you like to be offered if someone offered you a job;)

THanks for the replies i was thinking somewhwere in the region of ÂŁ15ph my self just wanted a few ideas on what i need to be paying

Is that the going rate down with you welshsparky ? That is pretty good . I work offshore but if did work onshore i am sure i wouldnt get that much even being an approved spark

The rates are shocking at the moment, some people are getting away with murder with the rates they're paying. I heard an agencie offering out work for ÂŁ8 an hour. Sadly they seem to be getting away with it.

They can get away with it though because theres so many people out there who are just happy to have a job and get some money in.. id say about ÂŁ12.50 - ÂŁ13.50 an hour. that would suit many a people by me

It really depends on the electricians knowledge and experience and if they are actually capable of doing the job, my experience is that if a spark is any good he will be working for him self.
Good luck any how

So you judge if someone is a good electrician or not on wether they are self employed ?

No danny, i have employed a few guys and most can talk the talk but you put a simple problem in front of them and it all goes wrong, I put a fully qulified electrican with 28 years experience out with my second year apprentice to attend a job with some faulty 150w son flood lights all they had to do was put a new ballast and ingnitor in, the wiring was slighty different from the original ballsat and ingnitor but there is a wiring diagram on the new stuff and still when the apprentice had to take over and sort the mess out my confidence in this guy was lost. only one instance but there has been many times with different guys.
Regards
AJ
