Hi,

I am 27 and work for a construction consultancy in London as an assistant project manager but being in an office all day is not for me. Before and after uni I worked in various construction jobs and have done the very basics like adding plug sockets and chasing walls but obviously have no electrical qualifications.

I am looking at doing some kind of intensive course if necessary but I feel that on the job training might be better but cannot live on the £80p/w week on offer for the couple of adverts I have seen.

My questions are:

What courses are worth doing in the London, SE area?

Are there any companies that are more likely to take someone like me on and who are they?

Thanks in advance

Ash

I'm probably not the best informed...however I'm also over 25, I say that because JTL is are probably the most comprehensive training providers in the area and they'l only take you up to 25, that leaves electricains taking u on so u can get work experiance(that's important for your CV), the other thing is you'll have to to do C&G 2330 L2 & L3 at college; it's hard to imagine getting an appenticship without a traning providar , it's likely your college will have to provide the funding, thus being your training provider so an employer might consider you; but going back to the C&G points you'll have to prove yourself in college e.g passing modules/assesments to be considered for their appenticship programm, and it's still likely you would have to find an employer with the college behind you, and relevant work experiance that you'll build up over time...hang in there;)
