How can I teach myself inspection and testing in preparation for my AM2S?

I have my AM2S next month, and testing is my biggest weakness by far.

I’ve been asking my company to put me on jobs where there is testing work available but it rarely ever happens. Whenever those opportunities do appear, they are very quickly completed by the experienced sparks on the team, often by themselves.

I’m desperate to learn testing, and know that I can’t rely on my company for help. What can I do to prepare myself for my exam?

I’ve bought my own Megger, but can’t really do much practice outside of testing the circuits at my house.

I’ve thought about building my own test rig, but for the money I’d be spending on materials, I wonder if I’d be better off finding a practical course maybe?

Please let me know your thoughts. I’m clutching at straws, here. Any help would be appreciated

There are a number of T & I videos on youtube. 'DSES', John Ward and there is one lot who do it in a college setting. ( Can't remember the name). The videos are really quite informative and helpful.

So I just passed my am2 a few months back. And I tested my house from start to finish every single day for about 2/3 months straight and after that I was fully confident. It’s all about repetition. Go through it as thoroughly as you can. I also drew out the terminals for three phase things and just imagined and watched YouTube videos on them

Videos are the best resource I’ve got at the moment. There are quite a few lads who teach from a college setting, most notably GSH Electrical. I’m very grateful for the knowledge all of these experienced electricians have made available for free on YouTube.

I think this is something I’m going to have to do myself. Great advice mate, thank you.
