Just been on gumtree manchester and there is a small firm called expert sparks doing c/u changes including all parts and labour and part p notification for £170! I keep getting phone calls asking for how much work I will do free of charge? None! I might pass there number on as that to me is not worth the hassle! Unless they hope for faults and hit you with a £50 ph fault finding charge! Also had a guy ring today for periodic on a hairdressers and said ten circuits, the last guys came at 8.30 and had left by 9! He said it flew through with no faults! I told him it would have as they have obviously not done it properly! Anyway got the job and told him more like 4 hours.

Yep...... That's where it's heading.....As I've said many times before (and everyone's sick of hearing) no money in domestics...
Round here you've 50+ DI's all scrabbling around for work under cutting each other....

We don't get involved anymore... Well when it all goes wrong, people seem to then resort to the "good old, respected" contractor to sort it.

I've also taken a few calls people wanting FREE work and advise.... Thought they were taking the !!!!!!!!!!!!.... Apparently not, when I asked just that!

Someone just asked me today if i did this for a living or was it a hobby , At the time i was hanging an AC unit on a outside wall 34.5 deg .......I had to troll them im afraid.

Do you find yourself busy or is it the same in spain where there are countless sparks under cutting each other?

Quite busy at the moment TBH but I also do Sound and Lighting in Pubs, CCTV, Satellite and just recently AC units and have a maintainence contract with an holiday rental Co. Think its best way forward not all eggs in one basket.

I've been looking at trying to get into a few maint contracts but it just falls on deaf ears and they aren't interested in changing to a new firm even if it would save them money!

Yeah whats this work for free ****e about? Why would they even ask that?

Some boy in belfast here is offering a deal. £100 for a years electrical work. You pay the fee and any time you want him out he will come and only charge for the materials. Full rewires are not included. Unless he is charging an absolute fortune for his materials I fail to see how he can do this.
