I once crushed an unopened pack of cigarettes under the clutch pedal ?
Many years ago I had a mk 3 escort and the amount of times I threw my cigarettes on the dash and em watched go out the passenger window when turning a corner! ??....thankfully no escort or civvies anymore ?

Totally agree mate and I’d add the same for the f£&kjn idiots that buy em they are just as guilty, a decent tool collection takes a lifetime....

Yep, some people will buy anything though, they don’t give a second thought to where it’s come from, or how it’s affecting anyone else. It’s selfish of them really.

Bundy uses them. Take a look his van tour video:

The van vaults start around 9:30 into the video.

thats way too organised and serious storage ----. I need something like this but on a smaller scale to fit a Peugeot Partner. ??

Not sure I'd like so much stuff on the inside rear doors... it's going to get a good soaking if you have those doors open too long in a downpour !

or buy a van with an up and over tailgate. bonus is you can be under it, using the on board vice (which is what i have bolted to the floor) for cutting metal without getting wet.

So spent most of the morning sorting my stuff out, I have several of those multi compartment clip boxes already absolutely rammed full of screws , grommets , clips , cleats , saddles etc
and also a plastic crate full to the brim with stuff like boxes , mcbs , glands etc

any better solutions

I’m pretty much sold on the sortimo Lboxx system.currently everything in them except for the hand tools and stock ,stock is in a couple of rentacrates that get slung off when i don’t need the contents. Planning on setting up a pull out system as per the 2nd pic once I can source some decent runners .

That van with the straps holding things down... has alot of unused space. The floor is well used, but the rest of it is largely vacant. I use the "systainer" system of cases for my power tools, as they stack and lock together nicely... and easy to offload every night.

That’s because I dont want a load of stuff strapped to the sides, as I use the van for transporting other things on the weekend.
The Lboxx’s are all locked together, but they’re stacked in order of use ,I could pile them up into two stacks (and have loads of space for activities*) but then when I need something from the bottom its a PITA getting to it. Hence the plan for the pull out system.
I don't need to unload at night.

*google it.

Ah yeah... the multi-use thing does make it tricky... I have similar issues. I could do with Thunderbird 2 with the interchangeable modules !

A lot of tools recovered by police forces en up at auction. No idea whether this is down to people not reporting thefts of little effort being made to reunite these tools with their rightful owners.

It's probably for lots of reasons... but I know that tracking owners for stolen property is a very time consuming process. I heard of a discovery of several hundred stolen bicycles... many with serial numbers and security marking alegedly to enable tracing if stolen... Luckily one of the coppers took it upon himself to trace the owners... but it was like 2 a week he could shift ! I think in the end they mostly went to auction. The police station yard was full of 'em !!
