Here's one guys what if you get called in to wire in a 10mm shower circuit, thats fine but then you notice that there are no bondings or rcd protection as its an old board so you explain to the client and they cant afford a new board or extra labour for the bondings.

Next step is to install your own small mains board with rcd protection just for the shower circuit you have installed and think stuff it put bondings anyway for peace of mind is it true that due to installing a new circuit in a bathroom then the lights in that bathroom also have to be rcd protected so you need to put them on your new rcd board or stick in a rcbo in the old board.

After doing one of those two do you then have to test all the lights on that circuit????

My point is by now the clients bill has nearly doubled and they dont understand that you have to do this but think your ripping them off :mad::mad:

i would say yes or you could install supplementay bonding in bathroom then no need for lights to be rcd unless not on pull switch, as for the client thats down to your diplomacey skills lol!!

I had a similar thing in the past, if your unsure ring your scheme provider this is basicslly what mine said, (after all there on our side they appreciate that all the regs are hard to comply with when retro fitting) you can only advise your customer what should be done in an ideal world, if he doesnt want / cant afford the bonding etc just note it on your certs to cover yourself, you can't make people have work done and you don't want to work for nothing either, so long as the circuit you installed is to spec your ok.

I know exactley what you mean I always feel the customer thinks your upselling all the time, i get bored of explaining bonding / rcds etc every day:mad:
