How long, with what aim in mind Hasan? money, to gain experience etc, are you studying in the mean time? Sorry Mate hadn't read your profile before answering ,What I asked is still relevant though.

For example a person starts off as a mate but is looking to be qualified electrician in the long run. But how long should an individual be working as a mate for? Is it when he learns to do containment, first fix, second fix and wiring and then what?

It all accords on your work ethic, if you are on the phone every chance you get them you will be an electricians mate for ever, (making tea and running errands) if you are someone who genuinely wants to improve and knuckle down to learning then you should be able to pick up the basics in a couple of months in which case the "Electrician" will want to keep you on and happy, involving you in testing etc, its up to you and your own ability and enthusiasm.

Saw a video of one serial blogger who was buying his new apprentice a set of tools, the way this young lad came across left me perplexed, he had no idea what any of the electrical tools where for, if you where going for an apprenticeship surely you do a bit of homework about your chosen profession before you start. ?
