Half my life.....18 years, but when I was about 7 or 8 a sparks came to my parents to fit a float switch in a tank to operate a rain water pump.I thought he was a genius(he probably was).I have since rewired the house.
It's funny as I do recall how highly regarded this tradesman was held. How times have changed.
Before I retired I was a spark for 27 years,in the end when people asked me what I did for a living I used to tell people I was a gynaecologist,a reflection on the type of people I was working with.Go figure!
Started apprenticeship in 1975 so 37years and counting. picked up £14-00 a week when at college I did block release several weeks at a time earned a bit more on site .
God hermetic you surprise me but we have some in common I left school on the Friday arrived at work on the Monday but I was asked what I was doing there I should have been on the boat at 7.30 in the morning to go to collage but no one had told me so went home packed a bag and set off from home for the first time in my life. I was away for 6 weeks and had no where to stay when I left and never phoned home or anything but my mother had to call the collage to check I was alive so embarrassed but best fun ever that was in 84 and a wage of £28
