How many Sparks in the UK?

Really strange that nobody ever mentions the poxy flat rate weekly wage rises of the late 70's imposed by a Labour government and the hourly rate in 1979 was the same as it was in 1976 when I started

So 1 in every 226 people is or claims to be a spark assuming the UK population is about 62.641 million the ONS figures don't sound right to me for the number of sparks

not counting the illegal immigrents that are working as self employed `electricians`

Labour will never help you rise to the haves as they need the have nots for the vote.

Tories won't help you rise to the haves as they need your young children to crawl up the chimnies and clean them for thruppence.

It's just my opinion, but I think it would be far more productive and beneficial, if the 277,000 electricians told JIB, the scams and the unions to go and self copulate.

Electricians would be able to take care of themselves, the parasite count would be dramatically reduced, confusion lifted and red tape slashed.

Network Rail have a contract coming up 35 billion quid over 5 years, lots of sparks needed but all have to have PTS cards

I worked on the PTS upgrade of stratford station for the olympics.The rates were £165 a shift days and £185 on nights.I saw an ad for sparks with PTS in london the other day £12.25 an hour.I renewed my medical and drugs and alcohol this week cost £180.Next week i am redoing my PTS £265.I havent even got a job offer lined up but wont have a chance of geting on crossrail without it.We are just geting stung at every turn

So, you have to do a drug and alcohol test, as in a breathalyser? Is that a London thing? And why you have to pay?

Its a brethalyser and urine test where they test for all sorts of drugs.It costs £85 and you can only have it done at selected medical centres, of course at a huge mark up whereas your local GP could probably do it for a tenner.Thats a nationwidething not just a London thing
