850 is fair I think, but they should cover your transport costs, etc as well. The bigger companies are gonna try to put a squeeze on their installers in the next few months, despite falling costs for supplies.

£850 is absolutely pathetic and this throws up a whole set of issues.

If you're 'signing off' the MCS, who has designed, and is therefore responsible for the efficiency of, the PV system?

Who is honouring the warranty etc? Presumably, as the MCS firm then it must be yourself.

Do you really want to spend two days on site (two men and roofer) and then another day doing paperwork?

The only skilled and knowledgeble person involved is yourself and yourself alone. It is a sad state of affairs when phone jockeys are making money off the back of skilled tradesmen.

I agree with Biggs on this, have you spent the time checking all the calcs for the system ie inverter and panel match, wiring calcs, have you seen the structural survey report to prove that it is even o k to put it on the in the first place. You need to cover your ar##, when it hits the fan I will guarantee you will carry the can for the job and the people who gave you the job will walk away Scott free.

£850 is probably an average price for rewiring a kitchen during a refit, three days and your done with no hassle and a years warranty, unless PV is the only string to your bow then I would say "whats the point".

Got to agree. there has to be a price premium for solar, not least because of the additional training, but also costs involved in registration, tools, insurance etc etc
