Discuss How much did your 3.6kW system make yesterday/today? in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Would it be a good Idea to have a sticky on this sort of subject also, Our technical support line has been as busy as hell over the last week with people expecting to generate 3.68kw from sun up to sun down. Our surveyors explain they will never achieve this, the hand over pack explains they will never achive this but still people are still upset that they have only achived 20kwh and they thought it would be about 30kwh +.

I am glad the guys and gals on here are just comparing, it would be interesting to see, it may also be interesting if the admins have the time or inclination to add a seperate part where users could add their daily / weekly data based on panel, inverter, asmuth, pitch configuration.

Generation is highly dependent on the amount of direct sun. Hazy sun, partial cloud or full dark cloud cover make a big negative impact on generation.

My 3.6kW inverter (3.75kWp) faces SouthEast, 40-degree pitch, located in East Anglia, and it generated 11kWh yesterday.
It is very capable of much more, but we had heavy cloud cover for a good part of the morning, just as the sun would have been in optimum position facing my panels.

Today, with it being bright, clear sunshine since daybreak and expected to remain so all day, I expect my generation will be a little over 20kWh. I'll report back later with the final tally, but I just looked and it had done 7.4kWh so far today (timed at 10.40am).

Final tally: 18.4kWh for the day.
Although the day was "sunny" all day, I think that the system was still capable of another couple of kWh, based on recent generation.
My wife commented that it was slightly hazy in places as she drove home this afternoon, so I assume that there must have been an ever-so-slight haze which I couldn't see, but which slightly reduced the sun's strength.
We've certainly had a lot more-than-normal mist and fog recently, with the cold, wet, saturated ground in the area boling off the wetness when the sun comes out.

I had thought about setting up a FAQ sticky for questions just like this - maybe one for installers (Do I need to earth my array, do I need an RCD etc.) and one for customers (my roof is on fire, is that normal?)

I'll set something up when I get the chance.

I would agree it is a good idea, I have 3 car forums of which one has a comprehensive FAQ (which I need to fix since SEO update). the FAQ is now the most visited thread.

South facing 2.5kWp system, produced 11.5kWh today (1st time over 10kWh in a day!)
Yesterday it did 9.5kWh,
Saturady did 9.8kWh
all 3 days sun out all day, i get full shade by 4pm(ish) new time but this morning it seemed alot cooler, oh and i cleaned some bird pop off one of the panels yesterday morning.

Thanks for all the replies. I think a sticky topic along these lines would be a great idea as I'm sure a lot of people have similar questions. My roof is on fire, is that normal? LOL!!!

Anyway, our 3.6kW system put 18.00kWh back in the grid today and I now realise that I must have missed the highest reading as it would have been earlier in the day, the inverter says it was 2932W! I'm secretely pleased with that. Hoping it will go over 3000 on day soon.

Do you think 18.00kWh on the generation meter is any good? Does the system actually make more, but use some of it itself (e.g. for the inverter)?

Thanks again.
Oli

20.66kw today - best result yet - only been in for 3 weeks tho!
unbroken sun all day with some very high haze.
40' pitch roof facing 15'east of south
16 REC panels 3.6 kostal pico inverter

Im all for helping out where i can.

so, maybe if someone creates a suitable thread that can be stuck?

4kw system South Facing in Lincolnshire 23.8KW generated today, thats my best so far, had a few 20kw days but its increasing.

3.6kw inverter Sanyo panels. Peaked at 3.42kw

@kirk
Great result. Did you take this figure of the generation meter? Also why have you got 16 panels but only a 3.6

Hi yes - reading from generation meter
The inverter (kostal pico 3.6) was sold to me as part of package.
I was told it would bang out 3.8kw max and no point getting a bigger output as if i produced more than 4kw i would not qualify for domestic FIT??
To be honest in hindsight - I'm not entirely happy with the install company and have very little confidence in most things they have told me.
