Fuse board change, 10 circuits, new shower feed and bonding for both gas an water. Bonding is probably about 20metres, shower feed about 25 metres away. How much would you say roguhly? ÂŁ600?

Back in the days of my first starting-out in business, I asked my accountant if there was some sort of magic formula for working out the "right" price for the job.

He told me that the "right" price was the highest that the market could stand.

Sounds about right I had a job like this and came in at ÂŁ575 but the problem is the ÂŁ250 CU numnuts mind I have an advantage not being VAT registered plus I do a far days work for a fair days pay I take my time clean up after me I have just quoted for a CU in a flat for a letting agent I dont think I will get it because there will be someone trying to dip in under the wire and I as i said before things are tight but it is not being helped by guys who have took a good retirement package and is running a small business so as not to get bored but he or she is can be cheap because its beer/holiday money they are making instead of a living

Also forgot to add that the ÂŁ575 took me a whole day plus a morning so 10 hours not including travel and getting the materials

Sounds like a good days work for a good days pay.

Now all you need is fred down the pub quoting ÂŁ300
and unfortunately thats often what happens....so in fred goes complete with his non-VDE drivers, snips n stuff....the cable he got from the local building site....lack of knowledge of what he`s doing as well just to comlete the picture.....but never mind....after he`s introduced earth leakage devices into the mix and there letting go all the time..lol....you should get the call then....

personally i think you're all a bit cheap! replace unit ÂŁ350, inspection, testing and cert 10 circuits ÂŁ350, shower 10mm ÂŁ200, bonding ÂŁ160, total ÂŁ1060!

plus vat if necessary!

the job has to reflect those figures mind!

Price sounds good and you stand a good chance of picking up the job, prices are at a low because as mentioned about people willing to work for next to nothing,i had a call from someone who had a spark and a mate fit 2 cu s for ÂŁ90 it took them 2 hrs the rcds were tripping and they left,no certs nothing.none of us on here charge ÂŁ150 for a c u change thats for sure, well i hope not anyway.

Blimey ÂŁ700 for a cu upgrade,i cant think of anyone that would be willing to pay that, but if thats what you can get for one fair play to you.

i give 'em top quality service, good value for money, and when we're stuck into the testing ( properly done) i can't imagine doing it for less!
why don't we all put more effort into selling ourselves, and our services, much better? i see replacement units that have been fitted for ÂŁ400 that, if an employee of mine had fitted it so badly, would get their --- kicked!
