Flakey

I have level 2/3 17th 2391 been working for 3 years.
What i would like to know is what level in terms of quals and work experience do i have to have to be able to legally supervise experienced sparks who may not have the relevent papers to be able to work on a domestic installation?

Many thanks

Flakes

Dont think you need to have a certain qualification to supervise sparks on an installation, if its domestic then your company would need to be registered with a scheme, or you would need to notify LABC b4 work commences.

Could be wrong on the qualification thing, but I would have thought level 3, 17th, 2391 + experience would make you competant to supervise others.

thanks for that insight mate much appreciated :)

How can you have experienced sparks who do not have relevant papers??
They're mates
I mean experienced 10 years plus but not on paper So i assume they need someone of a certain standing certs and experience wise to supervise them to allow them to legally carry out the work !

What do you mean not on paper if they have no qualifications what makes them an electrician.:confused::confused:

I've worked for a firm local to me, employs 1 spark who is qualified, hes NICEIC approved, the rest of his lads are young blokes been to college and dont own a drill between them, pays them peanuts, drives a range rover.
His test equipment is stem powered \|Robin junk, never callibrated, he couldnt understand how the readings form my megger had more than 1 unit after the decimal point.
Wish I was hard faced enough to be like that.

Sounds like he has a hitching post outside his business:eek:

To supervise electricians you need more than elect. qual.,you need good communication skills, have you any first aid experience what safety courses have you been on and have you got the certificates

yours benji

i just met a guy, he is doing PAT in some offices and sticking 'pass' labels around, but he does not have any qualification and not registered with anyone, when asked he just say ' i am an electrician', some people believed him and let him sticking 'pass' labels,
