ty. Up and running now! Not understanding electricity I was looking for a lug connector thinking spade was for the switch only. You need female spade connectors on the end of the cable to this pump, and the cable fed suitably glanded through the knockout (near your left hand?) in the top of the motor to a protected 230V outlet.
With push-on spade connectors properly crimped onto the wires, one wire goes to the centre spade on the white terminal block in the motor, and the other to the centre terminal on the switch. And the earth wire to the GND terminal on the motor case of course.
Push on connectors and ratchet crimp tool (correct size for both wire gauge and spade; and with competence in crimping), examples such as:
I don't think that difference in gauge could cause the trip.I wired the pump and it ran about 24 hours, then tripped CB. checked all connections and all are tight. Service to switch box is #12 AWG. I used #10 from switch to pump. Is that an error on my part, causing breaker to trip?
