Can some one quickly tell me how I can wire a extra low voltage extractor fan, I know it needs a fan, fan isolator, and a transformer but how will the wiring go to each of these. Someone's already done the wiring but its not marked and not making sense so I need to learn how it's wired normally. And if I can remember right there are 2 twin and earths at the light there's 2 twin and earths at where I think the isolator is and there's a twin and earth at the transformer and 1 at the fan.

Even being the festive time of year, i cant imagine you getting much help. Get the electrician who wired it to come back and connect it, then TEST it.
Sorry if this is a bit harsh.

The electrician who done this passed away, and I'm a lvl 2 apprentice it's just that I have never done a selv fan before

usually a 2 core to the fan from the tranformer is adequate, you will need a feed, switchwire and neutral at the tranny on the 230 volt side HTH

Sorry to hear about the electrician passing, but get another one in to connect and test. Watch, take notes or do the work under their supervision.

wire the transformer as you would wire a 230V fan. then connect the 12V from the tranny to the fan.

Thinking about what people are saying on here this is how I think it will be wired so he got 2 twin and earths at the light because from one of them his going to get the s wire and perm live and from the other one his just going to use the neutral these 3 will go to a double pole isolator and from there it will go to a transformer and then from there to the fan, but what I don't get is why he needed the permanent live?

some selv fans need 3 cores, most just have 2, perhaps he knew the make of the fan he intended to install, give the guy some credit, althought the wiring sounds confusing to me, why 2 twins? why not a 6243y?

I think twin and earth was all he had on him and couldn't be bothered to get some 3 core.

So I found out that the perm live is needed because when you turn your bathroom light off there is no power in the s live and the timer fans still carry on running that is when there using the perm live, can't believe no one could answer this for me on here.
