Customer is having an extension. In the extension, wet under floor heating to 3 zones is being installed.

The GSR says he wants a plug adjacent to the manifold .......... and he will plug the manifold etc into that.

This means the boiler will have 2 supplies..........

Am I right in saying they will be 3 zone valves for the zones controlled by individual room stats?
I’m a bit lost to the purpose of the socket.


Edit to supply the pump etc on the manifold.
If he insists then you have to provide appropriate warning labels.
Insist it should be supplied from the same circuit.

I would never have two supplies to a heating system but seen it done many times by the wet trade!!!
As far as i would be concerned you need perm L, switched L, N &E which you obviously know. There might be a switchable /triple pole and earth socket out there for them to plug into at a later date

So some how there needs to be an interconnecting cable from the new manifold position back to the boiler or wiring centre so why not just run a 3 core and earth so you have LNE and SL?

Surely it's the most logical approach? Who's job isit to provide the SL if the plumber only wants a socket?

No I'm not, IMO there should be 4 options. If I was responsible for wiring in the S/L then I would provide a 3core and earth and terminate it into a triple pole isolator at the new manifold position. If I wasn't responsible for providing the SL then I would do as he asks but explain to the plumber/person in charge of the job my reservations.
