Don't you mean timber walls all around? Surely there's some load bearing walls, else the big bad wolf could blow the house downLast one I did was a timber kit house so stud walls all round. Surface run behind where units were going to go, then behind plasterboard just below worktop level into dryliner boxes.
For high level sockets (wall mounted microwave) used the safe zones
You can only 'bin' the metal capping if you have the appropriate alternate protection in place.

if he is, he's way off the mark. only earthed metal containment removes the need for RCD (522.6.101)
