Just wondering how you guys think about this.
It’s a minefield.

Just fit populated rcbo boards, would that work?
My take is yes, that's fine. They don't like the RCD with say 80A rating sitting between the suppliers 100A fuse and a row of MCB that add up to more than 80A. They are saying (don't know if true) that we are no longer allowed to use diversity as per OSG.

Design current is as always the determining factor. You could theoretically have a row of 99 x 32A MCBs all protecting circuits not pulling more than 1A and your 100A main switch would be absolutely fine.

This is just Hager up to its usual tricks.

Yup .......... that pretty much sums it up

AND this is why manufacturers should NOT be allowed anywhere near JPEL/64 or ANY of its sub committees

Talk about vested interests

BUT they could "fix" the problem by fitting 100A RCD's in their dual boards........

Thanks @westward10 for finding the source in 7671.

I think 536.4.202 may be helpful here. The last paragraph (which H appear to have used only in part) also says that things "shall be selected in accord with manufacturer's instructions". So if a Wylex board is rated at 100A and sold equipped with two 80A RCD we should be able to rely on them to have got that part right (?). We then keep the connected load after diversity to less than 80A as per usual.

Completely pointless fitting RCBOs if your main switch is rated at 60A and the combined total load and OCPD for the CU is above that.
