Any one know a company (West Midlands area) that services hydraulics crimping tools. Mines starting sticking and not releasing enough to get the cable back out.
I have taken it apart and cleaned it and it all looks super smooth but still sticks intermittently even with the dies empty. Would prefer to get it fixed rather than get a new one.

What make is the Crimper? an email to the maker might worthwhile.

Hi,is it a quality branding? ;) If not,parts and spec,will be a non-starter.

If it retracts with no dies, check the die-slides,if still sticking,it could be damaged/worn seals (they do not always leak when worn),it could be a clogged release valve port,or,as likely the device will be a sealed or non-vented unit, which may rely on reservoir vacuum,to retract the operating piston,so possibly a leak.

If you have had it apart, did you manually check the operation of the actuating piston? Was it stiff or jerky? (giggerty) Does it have a return spring, aft of the piston seals?

If you suspect the manufacturer,is cited in an area, which includes the word "Province" in it's address.....the scrap man comes past,Monday :(

To be honest they are ten years old, retract in a jittery or non existent style with or without the dies in. No leak as such (until I pump the piston out too far with the head off), will have another look tomorrow when I get back to the work shop. The scrap man:(, then the new tool man :) may be involved.

I was hoping I could drop them off some where and get them fixed. But who doesn't like new tools !
