Automatic disconnection in the case of a fault is a method to disconnect the supply safely.
The protective measure of automatic disconnection of supply includes basic protection, equipotential bonding and automatic disconnection in the case of a fault.

The automatic disconnection in the case of a fault on its own is not a complete protective measure because a protective measure needs to include both basic and fault protection; therefore you add main bonding and basic insulation (or barriers and enclosures) to complete the protective measure.
