My son and daughter in law have just bought a very nice listed building that has had electrical works carried out and certified by a few different electrical contractors. My gripe is the cooker panel switch, connected upside down, IE turn of the cooker main switch and the socket goes off as well, This circuit is certified by a contractor, If they cannot get the simple things correct it makes me wonder. I will be checking it all over for them to make sure its all ok, end of gripe

The problem with the nic inspections is that you get to decide which jobs to show the inspector. The better way would for them to pick some random jobs from the certs you have submitted. that way all your jobs would need to be to the same standard, as you would not know which ones would be looked at.

This is such a good idea!!

That's the way RECI do it now. The contractor can no longer select the job.

My engineer gets to look at what he likes. We can generally get into places. I’ve nought to hide.

There’s plenty of unregistered ‘electricians’ doing equal or worse work. Surely It all comes down to pride at the end of the day?
