I was booked into go to a customers house in London travelling from north of oxford, last Thursday she delayed saying the builder wasn't ready best make it Tuesday instead so I phoned this afternoon at 3:00 just to check everything was ok no answer then a text a minute later oh so sorry the builder is going to do the electrics I don't need you. If I was busy I wouldn't be so annoyed as I don't have any work booked in for tomorrow now. I really hope this comes back and bites her on the bum because a foreign builder and power and lighting in the garden don't mix! Steam is coming out my ears!!!! I feel like phoning her up and asking her next time the brakes need fixed on her car would she trust a plumber or an electrician to fix them. A little knowledge is dangerous.

There is no fear about that!! As sure as Eggs are Eggs, it'll come back to bite her on the Arse!! Be it in monetary terms or in terms of a emergency hospital visit!!
 
She is offering to pay me some money to make up for my loss but she is tried to make out that she hadn't confirmed but I have told her to look back to her last text and she will see that she had confirmed.
I should also remind her that someone with a little knowledge can make electrics work but to make it work safely and for the life of the installation you need to be qualified and know what you are doing/know the dangers.
 
As annoying as it is when stuff like this happens I tend to be polite and not burn any bridges.
Explain the inconvenience and advise her to make sure she gets the relevant paperwork etc.
You never know they might call you back for something else or pass your name on to someone else.
Reputation is everything and based on more than just your work.
