Doing an eicr in a hotel and the maintanence guy asked if i could take a look at an intermittantly tripping rcd.

Rcd tested fine, so i started disconnecting the fittings for an ir test and found this.

200mm of kingspan, and unenclosed connector blocks sitting in the kingspan directly above a 50w downlight.

Anyone else had any fun findings this week?

thing is though...is landlords just dont give a tosh about how it looks...just as long as it works....
i had one the other week on an ECR....i had just done a safe iso so i could get me dead tests....about 10mins into it he comes across and says:
`will the power be back on in 10 mins as i want to get some lunch`.....
i just said to him `if you want i can go`...
cant be arsed with em anymore...some types...

I would say that one could actually be IP2X as it is not really very accessible but for horizontal accessible surfaces the protection required is IP4X, 416.2.2.

it was IP f**kall X....you could get a finger in there....
there was some flat twin strung across like a washing line n all....
