I balls up this week because amongst other jobs I quoted to move a ceiling light for a customer, and having done lots of work in houses nearby with standard platerboard ceilings I assumed this was the same (big mistake). What a nightmare it was filling in the holes as there was no access from above, and the plaster was just crumbling away.

I must remember in future to mention in my quotes that such work is subject to it not being a lath and plaster ceiling with no access above. What do others do when they come across the same situation?

not has bad yesterday ,Charlie and plastering bucket. double a boarded the F.F ceiling after I had put the holes in for the down lights.
customer said is that ok ,left a plan of the down lights.
had to chalk line the ceiling again ,could have chocked him with the F.F line. buy the time I had finished it was like crates on the moon .

What are the right screws to use in L&P?

Ones which go all the way through to the other side...so you can put a cork on it:)

Sounds implausible, but ask a teenager to put down their phone, and hold the nut on your rear registration plate, while you tighten the bolt,on the front number plate...it is scary how many do not even question this proof of mechanical lacking ;)

No,no,no...my two have been raised alongside the kids of me Gypsy and farming pals, and are far too sharp for a ploy such as that:)

Me and my missus have been together 30 years, this year, and i had to give her a rapid induction, not long after meeting,to ready her for me pals and kin.
Me pals dad, rest his soul - a real handful of a fighting man,on meeting my lass, said "Well then peg...this ain't the big ginger piece, you were with last week..."

We still miss him:)
