i think some expierience will help with this one...

went to put up new light fitting other day, the cable was installed by someone else and cant trace where its going?? i have no access without busting holes and even then i mighten be able to see where goes, how would you guys go about this as was embarrased when had to say didn't know where it was going, and this was after i used there money to buy new fitting..... cheers

so just bang the fitting up and see if it comes on with the other one. isolate ALL supplies before touching, you never know if some numpty ain't wired it iff a ring.

A bit of advice for all trainees/apprentices.
Keep it simple. Sparks can be a very complex subject, the only reason I get by is because I keep it simple.

well i waved my multimeter across the cables and it lit up, so i isolated supply and put fitting up and then it didnt work so test voltage at fitting and was getting about 10v, so god knows.... and yes ive ordered decent voltage tester as these multimeters are dodgy..

Go to the switch you think it operates and do an R1+R2 test. That'll prove it is the right switch and possibly why it's not working. Was the old fitting working?

its just a cable comming off a light fitting to give two lights off one switch, but when i take off fitting ud assume its comming from , theres no cables there. so all i have is the 1.5 t&e popping out of wall.and dont know where other end is. sorry if im upside down and going round and round
