It's about 15 ft sq with a car port adjacent but at a lower level so lighting at night is important. I know I'm overthinking it, that's what the thread's called! BUT...sheds and garages aren't exempt the regs. I know everyone just lumps lights and power on the same RCD but is that right? It's a hyperthetical question, really, as I intend to install the Emergency Lighting, but how would you satisfy the regs with regards to danger? Lights and power out together??? Only a thought...

You are asked to minimise inconvenience not to eliminate inconvenience

If the lights and power are out in the shed, then they best not use it if it is unsafe to do so
They could wait till its light or get them to buy a torch

Better still, if it is of concern, go with tels suggestion and have them pay for a EM fitting

the whole idea if circuit division is not to lump 2/3 socket circuits and 2/3 lighting circuits on 1 RCD. 1 RCD trips and you still have some sockets and some lights. where you only have 1 of each, it's overkill to think of circuit division. if you were able to fit RCD protection at the garage/shed, then 2 x RCBOs might be appropriate, but not in this case.

Cheers Des...the EM was my solution as for the minimal cost it solves the problem, just wondered about other possible solutions.

Telectrix, thanks again, I know it's obvious but my brain just kinda wanders off on its' own sometimes!:innocent:

Apologese for what? I asked the dumb question in the first place, thanks for taking the time to read and respond!
