Neweys have been pushing these lately, Ideal's version of a wago. Has anyone bought/used them???

They are also stocking the 'screwits' which personally I would never use but it seems people are buying them.

Were they any cheaper than the wagos? I see a leaflet on them once before, they look the same in the picture but haven't actually seen them

They look like re-branded HelaCon (Hellerman Tyton). I used HelaCon when they were specified for a NHS hospital, they are as good as Wago but available in a more limited range.
I share your ambivalence to 'Screwits' and think the introduction of a modern version of the old porcelain twist connectors is a backward step. I am old enough to remember the numerous poor connection problems that they caused as the copper oxidised over time.

I had a feeling you were going to mention the screwtits, when I read the title of the thread. Completely agree with you both. It's akin to twisting the cables together and using a cable tie to stop them coming apart. I would never use them.

They were very competitively priced.

No-one could offer me any feedback at the time though.

I use helacons currently as my local CEF stock them.

As Neweys have started stocking the Ideal version, at a better price I was after a bit of feedback before I buy.

I've used them! Exactly the same as Wago to use. Nice strong fit, can visually see the cables when they are all the way in!

Why wouldn't you use them!?!?! Only down side is they are a bit bigger in size as you go up the range, as Wago double stack the entries.

IDEAL is a massive company in the US. Their push-ins might be slightly bigger but you can use them in more applications because of the 32A rating. Wago's are only 24A rated!!
I have used Wago and Hellermann Tyton connectors in the past and personally I'd recommend using the IDEAL connectors.
I also got a free sample of IDEAL's new SpliceLine push-in connector at ELEX Manchester. It's an inline push-in designed to replace insulated crimps. They work really well too.

Haven't used the twist-on connectors though!

I went to ELEX Manchester (I was not the electrician wearing makeup and womens clothes by the way!) and went by that stall several times and got called over each time for a free sample and now have enough connectors to last me until the next Elex although I might go to the Coventry one just to make sure!
I was sceptical about the twist on ones for the same reasons as above but I thought they seemed reasonable and did a better job then I expected but I'm not totally convinced ,The Americans are into these in a big way though.
