a friend of mine asked me to have a look at her supply as it keeps tripping, after looking in the consumer unit i was surprised to discover that she has upstairs and downstairs ring on a 32A breaker, she has a big house and i counted 16 double sockets up and 2 spurs, 24 double sockets down with a spur thats powering a water feature and set of downlighters, am i right in thinking that this is too much for a 32a mcb and thats what is possibly causing the problem?

no shower, i could live with, but no cooker. have to buy the fanny craddock microwave cookbook, unless there;s a chinese takeaway close to.

she has got by the past few weeks, she is like me, allergic to the cooker

although with me i can cook fantastic meals, i just choose to be lazy in the kitchen

well, she needs a new circuit for cooker and one for shower, plus the 2nd rfc. that's 3 more MCBs. should keep you busy for an hour or two

im not actually going to carry out the work, im busy with other stuff i just stopped by as a favour because she needed the elecrtic to stay on for more than 0.4 sec so she could get some stuff done

i was tempted to put in a 40a for shower and a 32a for cooker (not like she will use it) for her but no doubt that will be sorted soon enough
