Hello fellas
Been asked by a letting agent to go and find out a problem on an imersion heater? She is telling me If they leave the immersion on for a couple of days its trips?
Couple of question for you guys

1/ To tested the immersion heater element carry out a Continuity, IR test. How do i test the stat is switching?

2/ If the element or stat is no good and I change like for like. Do i fill a minor work cert in?

3/ As there is only 2 copies of the cert in my pad do i give the master to the letting agent?

4/ What Value ohm wise would I expect to see on a continuity tested

1/ To tested the immersion heater element carry out a Continuity, IR test. How do i test the stat is switching? ~ Personally I wouldn,t IR test the element as you can blow them. To test the Stat ~ isolate power and check for continuity across it whilst adjusting the temperature down. You should get a reading until you get to ambient temperature.

2/ If the element or stat is no good and I change like for like. Do i fill a minor work cert in? ~ Personally I would

3/ As there is only 2 copies of the cert in my pad do i give the master to the letting agent? ~ Personally I would also give a copy to the resident of the property (if there is one)

4/ What Value ohm wise would I expect to see on a continuity tested ~ Chris has answered above

Hope this of use Pjb

What about IR testing at a lower setting say 250v? If the element insulation is breaking down would this test not show it?

You would have thought they'd have a switch to flick on and off to engage an override. Not on each PIR but an actual light switch
