Good evening all,
Sorry if this post has been covered before, i did a quick search first and didn't find anything.
I got called out to have a look at an immersion heater, that a plumber has put a new stat and element in on the economy 7 side of things. The client has said that he can hear the element start heating at midnight, but it switches itself off soon after. All storage heaters are working fine. I did an R1 R2 test, and insulation resistance test on the circuit, all ok. The live cable coming out of the stat to the element fell out of the terminal, so i terminated it correctly, but it still isn't heating up as it should.
Short of putting some sort of monitoring device on the circuit (or stay all night at the clients house), im drawing a blank. I'm wondering if where the cable was loose on the stat, it has been arching/giving a higher resistance and knackered it. Has anyone come across this before?
