Hi

My immersion heater is on a timer to take advantage of economy 7. Its a 144 litre tank and is currently timed to go on at 2am until 7am. My question is, does the heater need to be on this long during the night? If I was to change the timings from say 3am to 6am to save a bit would it actually make any difference to the amount of hot water I had? If the actual water only takes an hour or so to actually fully heat (guess) then why would I need to keep heating up for longer if its stored in the tank all day?

Thanks

leave it as is because it's on a thermostat. once it's hot it will switch itself off until it cools down a bit , then will just switch on/off to naintain the temperature.

Think you will find it takes a lot longer than your one hour guess to heat up 144 l of water, thats from cold but you could still have warm water left in tank when your water starts to heat up. If you look up the make on internet it should give you an idea of how long it takes.
