Hi everyone, hoping someone can help me with a little puzzle.....

I have an inline extractor fan servicing 3 bathrooms which has stopped working. Called a (proper) electrician who couldn't find any faults and suggested replacing the whole extractor fan unit. Before doing so I had a quick look and decided to change the fuse in a fused connection unit. It worked! Then didn't a day later. Put the old fuse back in and it worked again, then didn't next day. Can't work out why simply taking the fuse out and putting it back in fixes the problem for a bit.

All ideas for next steps welcome.

Perhaps your fused connection unit is faulty. Call your electrician and ask.

is there a possibility of moisture/ steam having got into the FCU? had a job once where an extractor was playing up in a shower room and being a bit intermittent. When I unscrewed it, somehow moisture had built up behind with a damp coating over wires this seemed likely cause. replaced and sealed - no more problems.
