hi guys
i am going to quote for a complete rewire of a detached house. the current supply comes overhead via SWA from an adjoining building about 20' away which has the main incoming supply and fuse with PME. this building only a has light and a couple of sockets. is it okay to take this supply and use it for the house or does the house need its own supply as it really now only has the roof, 4 walls and some floor joists so the whole job is virtually a new build. the adjoining building is owned by the same person and is unlikely to be sold off, however this is a possibility.

seperate dwelling to be sold at a later date would benefit from a new incoming supply

With the possibility of a future sale, diverting the supply would be the best option. As has been said the existing cables purpose can be reversed to feed the out building until such time it is sold. Then it becomes the new owners problem.

But again as has been said it the customers decision.

Out of interest what size is the cable? If it’s not up to it then that helps swing the decision.
