I am after a wall mounted cabinet to house a landlords meter and possible a small distribution board (or even just 2 SFCUs). Ideally something that is slightly more pretty than your standard meter box as it has to sit in the stairwell of some offices.
Something around 450x300x150mm would be about right I think.

Anyone got any ideas/sources? All the ones I have found either look very industrial or are very expensive - did I mention the landlord doesn't want to spend much money on this?.... :(

ever heard of a paslode gun?

Yeah. That's your weapon of choice whilst stalking the corridors of this forum!!:smile5: :86:

My point was the cost comparison. The landlord does not wish to pay much for the cabinet.

Gotta be cheaper to buy a meter cabinet than build a unit and make it look 'pretty' (op's word).

THere is my problem. A standard meter box is both very large and pig ugly but at least the cost is reasonable. Surely there must be something half the size and a bit better looking?

So far the best I can come up with is a standard grey steel enclosure but I was hoping there was something around that was slightly more elegant.

whats a pasload gun got to do with cables...
you div!!

simple. if you take care you can get the nail straight in the middle between the L and E. don't worry about that bare 1 in the middle. once the ends are stripped, it's redundant.

well...i thought there were several variations....you may find one thats suitable...

Not that I could find but maybe I am just being too fussy. Thanks anyway!

sheet of mdf and some softwood battens, couple of hinges, one magnet and one handle. £30 in materials. couple of hours to make a box out of it. some basic filling and painting and job done.

So that is £90 including my time for something that will look a bit home-made. Like I say, maybe I am just being fussy......

How about using a data cabinet?
Mucho money but look cooler than our rubbish.
