Hi All, As part of one of my jobs for NIC accreditation I'm fitting an induction hob (8kw) and double oven (>2kw combined) the customer has requested they have separate switches on the same plate but does not want the oven on a socket should they change specification at a later date, any advice appreciated.

2 gang light switch feeding 40A contactors at the CU ;-)
how complex do you want go ?
:)

edit ; 40A contactor for the hob , 20A contactor for the double oven.

So all-in-all if I can lead them away from the two switch idea I'd be better off advising one switch and running them through a dual appliance plate? Am I getting the gist?

I *think* that Click do a 45A DP switch as a 2G width module in their modular range, so you could get two switches side by side and even an FSU for something else all into one 6width enclosure on a double mounting box (need a 47mm one).

I know, as I've done it before, just can't quite remember what rating the switches are. 10mm to the first switch, then 4mm would do it jumping across to the second. Bit of a squeeze, but do-able.

Sorry - just checked - only go to 32A! If you wanted to play the diversity card carefully this might actually be OK for an 8kW load, though. It's a couple of amps under-rated at 230V.
