industrial pricing???

hi fellas

Have been asked to price for connecting up portable site cabins and test and certify,
I usualy do domestic and commercial and have a set rate I charge per day, Do any of you guys increase your rates on industrial jobs? or do you stick to the same pricing structure whatever the work?

been there today to scope it out and although I should get it all done in a day I feel ive under priced myself

what are peoples thoughts on increasing rates for industrial and how does everyone price on these things?

I price accordingly to the job conditions etc so yeah maybe a little more especially if it is awkward and or a heavy days work.

I often think like you are, especially if the customer does not bat an eye lid when quoted, I think damn could have gone higher, but at least I know what I have quoted is still a reasonable days pay.

totaly - price was agreed on the spot by the guy and ill get it finished in a day but it will be a very busy day hardly stopping

at least ill get more work from them

Genny to main DB then db to Cabins 6mm swa to cabins but mind watch cable sizing on drying rooms and toilets shower rooms as the drying rooms will have heating ON consistantly and the toilets nornaly have water heating AND hand dryers to take into consideration

your main question tho Price around £25 an hour wouldnt be far off the mark remember you will be testing instalation every three months

Pricing a job to get most profit is always difficult as no two customers are the same as it can all depend on the finance director / accountant who has no knowledge of what you are doing and quite often has the final say in large companies

You don't say if this is a competitive tender / quote if you are pricing against others quite often the pencils are sharpened and quotes pruned to the bare bones to get the work on the hope of getting future work uncontested

Also beware of companies who want very detailed quotes I got done a few times before I learned that my quotes where being used as a specification to get others to quote who would be cheaper due to not having to factor in design time as it had already been done by me

He found my ad on Gumtree

rang me up asked if I could do it and how much I charged per day - told him he agreed on spot and then sent me all subcontractor prequalification questionaire bumph asking for my reg cert and insurance details etc

so not being quoted agiansed other companies

The site cabins are beinf transfered from another site for me to connect, so all the equipment cable and everything is the same as used on the last site so its all been pre selected for size etc, and has been working for over 12 months on last site

Im just there as labour for day to plug in and test the 4 cabins, not buying any materials

( I just hope they remember to bring the earth rod and the thing wont be switched on until they have one - and I did remind the site foreman on the last site )

bear in mind that the cabins and cables will have been loaded on wagons by laberours who may not take much care as its possibly Job n knock for them it can be crud work but it brings the pennys rollin in Just hope the new sites got a nice concrete pad and not a mushy bit of green stuff thats been used for equipment parking lol
