Not to sure wether this has been asked before and I'm new here so sorry if it has. But I've been interested in becoming a qualified electrician for months now. I'm wondering what are the courses I would need to enrol onto. And where would be best? I'm from the Liverpool area. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Jay

The question you asked is probably the most asked question on here so a search will get you all the answers you need and include some you won't want to read. It seems every man and his dog wants to be a spark

don't be tempted by the ÂŁ5000 "train to become an electrician in 5 weeks and earn ÂŁ50K" courses. all they will do is teach you the basics and leave you skint. the only way is to find employment as a spark's mate to get the practical experience and do 2 nights/week college . course was 2330 level 2&3, but think that may have been superceded by 2357. then 2382 can be done in parallel, finally 2394 &2395. as previous posts, plenty of threads to be found with more comprehensive answers if you do a search.

Thanks mate finally a useful answer ill look into that now. I don't want a domestic installation course from what I'm reading is that right?

Jay

Correct. A domestic installation course will leave you lacking in essential knowledge and a lot lighter in the wallet. In fact looking a the price of some of them, the short courses seem to cost about double what my 4 year NVQ3 cost me at my local college.
