To design any thing electrical we have to start with the load, what is the power consumption going to be in the garage, and how far away is it.
Yourgoing to be asked by others to describe the supply, TN-C. TT, TNC-S etc. What is at the consumer unit ? Are you going underground or over with the supply .
This is actually a medium sized job, can you tell us what your qualifications are?

and no, you would first feed to a garage two way consumer unit, RCD prtotected, 20 amp for the sockets and 6 for the lights. Swa if cable not in ducting.

THat sounds dead on make sure and fuse the sockets and lights correctly.

sorry mate but i am fairly new to the trade would i use 1x fcu for the sockets and another for the lights and put the right amp fuse in each
sorry if this seems like i am being really thick but you cant no everything

cheers mate

how we deal with the earthing issue here is vital, so make sure you are accurate with the supply deatails.

well this customer has 2 differant sparks round and they said that they would use 2 fcus

this has threw me as they said the prices they were quoted were ÂŁ225 and ÂŁ235

i no how i would want to do the job from start to finish but i am not sure weather i am doing the long way and expensive way

13a fcu off ring to sockets 3a fcu off a socket to light, bit quick n dirty though and your power will be limited by the fcu

also:
bonding
rcd
testing
certing

and on and on on on on on on

as said you need to know the load, i am guessing a flouri for the light, are they then going to bang a heater on in there as well in the cold weather possibly the tumble drier? jet wash etc i have seen a load of gear in garages . personally i would go for a 2 way garage board .
13a is not much and the customer will not be happy when the fuse keeps blowing in the fcu

Break the quote down into 2 options...

1. An FCU off the ring circuit as described
2. Dedicated circuit from DB to new garage DB.

Explain the pros and cons of each and let the customer decide.

Have been waiting for that !! I cannot find in the thread is the garage remote or not ? . If there are pipes in the garage etc that is integral to the house, then we are in zone, Is the garage remote from the house ? does someone have to walk across "The general mass of earth " (includes concrete )no matter how small a distance, to get to it ? I would hope not if two sparkys have assed the job as the same, but if the garage is remote here is a chance for you more than double your quote and win hands down.

Personally, I would take a Ze measurement myself rather than rely on someone else's maybe drive by scrap of paper.
