Instalation resistance

Hi, im looking for some help, before doing an instalation resistance test, when using an rcbo do you need to disconnect the neutral lead from bar, another one am puzzled on is if you have an rcd socket, do you have to remove it and temp join cables in connecter, anyone help.

Most manufacturers of RCBOs with functional earth fly-leads insist that these leads must be disconnected during insulation testing to avoid damage to the sensitive electronics, and during earth fault impedance loop testing to avoid misleading results. A minority of manufacturers also recommend disconnecting the neutral fly-lead when conducting insulation testing. Remember to reconnect any fly-leads immediately after the tests are completed. As most SRDCs (RCD protected socket outlets) contain sensitive electronics, most manufacturers recommend they be disconnected during insulation testing for the same reason, a minority of manufacturers also recommend disconnection for earth fault loop impedance testing.

you don`t IR test though an RCBO....period.
test on the secondry side....but as Mark says n all that lot n all....

I have seen electricians perform IR tests through RCBO's after which they do not disconnect within prescribed tripping times, so as above don't do it jimbo it will cost you for replacement parts.

Ok lets see if ive got this. Testing ir on a board as a whole you would disconnect the neutral if it were tncs, remove lamps, starters, motors, neons, lcd displays. Main switch off breakers on and test. If theres an rcbo diconnect the two flying leads but do you test through the rcbo or turn the breaker off, then test that circuit individually

turn the RCBO off.....test to neutral/earth on the secondry side of the RCBO....not the busbar side......

Actually it,s called an insulation resistance test,not an installation resistance test.
