quick question i have wondered when wiring in a house or a conservatory say if you have a bay window and someone wants a socket in the bay and its concrete floor how can you run a cable to it with out going around corners ? and also if you have a conservatory with dewarf wall same problem again runnnig cable around bends ?

thanks james

done one once, socket wanted by french doors. client was adamant he did not want decoration wrecked by chasing in, so, straight out from bedroom socket, in 20mm pvc down outside wall, in to socket. ( made sure it was noted at CU that 1 downstairs socket was on upstairs ring. )

Regulation 522.6.6 parts (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) if you run a cable outside of a zone or buried deeper than 50mm

Or you run it down within 150mm of an angle formed by 2 walls to the height of your socket under that window and then chase horizontally along to the socket.

Where there is an available cavity on a new build
Use flexible conduit that can be clipped to the internal wall of the cavity and terminated at the rear of any outlets

If its addition and you cant spoil the decoration, then the only 2 methods available have been mentioned, unless you surface trunk the cable accross a skirting or such

In the end,the customer wont get anyone who can magic a socket to an awkward place,he may get someone who disregards the regs and use routes that may not be permitted but they cant have the cake and eat it as far as decorating is concerned

All so I no what you mean
about using the 150 mm zone but this seems daft to me as people put up corner shelfs speakers etc and the same with the 150 from wall to celing people putting up coving
