Installing new outside PIR light, do I need a switch? | Page 2 | on ElectriciansForums

Discuss Installing new outside PIR light, do I need a switch? in the Lighting Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

As TJ Anderson said, I have confirmed there is a permanent live at the existing ceiling rose that I intend to take the feed from. It already has 3 sets of T&E connected ie loop in, loop out and switch drop. Is it still okay to connect another cable?

Thanks

Yes, should be fine: you'll need to double up a couple of terminals, obviously, and make sure when you put the 4th cpc in the earth terminal that it's terminated properly and all 4 are held tight.

Thanks happysteve.
On having a closer look someone has already doubled up on the terminals so there’s a spare terminal on loop and neutral

Thanks for your help

I was always taught that there should not be a switch connection inside an external light fitting....is this still the case ..is it stated in the regs that this is not in line with current regulations I personally never wired outside lights where there was a switched connection actually in the outside fitting as a bulkhead etc...a little off subject I know...just curious...thank you...
