Hi all,

I need some extra sockets for my aquarium in the cabinet and thought about adding some more single sockets.

I am short on sockets in the lounge, so the only available socket is around 20 feet away, this a double socket with nothing plugged into it, my idea was this:

Would It be safe and ok to use a long piece of 13a flex with a 13a plug fitted so this would then go into the socket that's 20ft away.

The other end then would go into the single sockets, would it Be ok to wire these up in series, so one would then feed the other and the other etc for upto 8 single sockets?

Many thanks who replys.

From your post I'm thinking you're going to have a length of flex with a plug top on each end. That's a really really bad idea mate.

Also feeding several sockets in this way isn't a good idea either

I think you should get away from the idea of extension leads mate. Consult a sparky and tell him/her what you want, it might be more expensive but it'll be a better long term solution. Whereabouts are you?

The OP sounds like a Electrical Trainee domestic installer

Seriouslly though buddy, that idea ia hurrendous so forget about it asap...either move ure aquarium to where the spare double is or get a spark in to do the job properly and safely.

P.s. even in bed im still on here haha...is their an electricians forum annonymous?
