Hi,
I'm after a bit of advice. British gas installing a new boiler, refused to install as fault on electrical system. The RCD trips when performing an ELI test. I've had a quick look tonight, TT system, rcd tests out ok. IR was 10 Mohms on all circuits except downstairs socket where Insulation resistance would not settle was going up & down. In the past, I've had IR climbing when testing large installs or damp present. But have not come across this before.

Any ideas

Cheers

What were the lowest IR results? Who carried out the EFLI test and what instrument was used for the test?

British gas probably think the house needs a rewire due to his/hers socket tester not showing the correct colour. Or they dont understand how to cary out a Zs correctly on an rcd protected circuit.

Hi, The BG guy was correct the rcd was tripping on no trip setting. The reading I was getting was between 5Mohm & 25Mohm insulation resistance tester was a megger. The tester would not settle & was wavering up & down.

Cheers
