insulation resistance

I'm fed up of having to disconnect all conductors out of the rcbo's to obtain an insulation resistance test, does anyone having a better solution to bypass this to make life easier.

My standard meter probes reach RCBO terminals fine, of course it does depend entirely on the RCBO in question.

I have a set of needle type probes that came with my 1552 along with the thing with a torch on it, but never took them out of the bag…

I have never had to remove them as have a set of thin entry probes, fluke do them, I always use them. I thought I was missing something obvious, but it was just a case of your probe is to big for the hole!

Do the manufacturers instructions for the RCBOs you use not require that they be disconnected before meggering then?

hmm..

so theres some in here whingin..caus the prods cant get into the RCBO...

so i suppose it never dawned on them to get a couple of screws to reach in...get the crocs on the screws...and thus through them onto the terminals..

Well since you've gone and given the answer away,
I use a normal screwdriver with the croc clip attached to it, you can hold the handle and apply proper contact pressure.

or even a croc clip on a short length of a core of cable that you may have to hand?

Can't get good contact pressure that way though, a screwdriver you can push with the handle, bearing in mind you also want to get in there for your RCD test.

What about periodic I have raised this issue before, MEM are an absolute nightmare have to remove L a N arghhhhhhh especially when you have a limited time to test a monster TPaN board full of the *******s

What if I use an off cut 2.5mm conductor linking it to L - N terminals connected to croc clip and other croc clip to earth bar, or would i get a false reading due to the rcbo
