Watched these two videos over the last few days.

Nick Bundy's mother in law had her bathroom remodelled and called him in when the lights went out.

Pt1

Im not entirely sure who he's "reporting" it to. I mean you can report a scam member to their scam. But obviously these guys won't be in one. So who can he report them to? Trading standards? Can't see that going anywhere. They'll have quoted for the job and done it - thats where trading standards will end. Prime example of how the regs and/or part P seems to be there to tax the genuine and doesn't help with us "normal" folk.

near 20 years ago I said the day part pee started it is simply a tax on the decent honest sparks that will make us more expensive compared to the rogues who will simply carry on regardless. sadly I was right...

In my cul-de-sac ive witnessed at least 3 people do notifiable works on their electrical system. (In fairness i've watched the old boys do it. They've clearly read their readers digest and the work is fine) . Anyway. That's one small close in England. Clearly Part P doesnt work. But this is another thread.

It was never going to work , it was just a tax on those of us stupid enough to pay it

It's pretty much a prime example of one of the reasons for Trading Standards existence: rogue traders.

'Part P' has no standing in this part of the world, but there'd still be a clear case for pursuing this sort of guy.

Reminds me of a time, long, long time ago, when I ditched my girlfriend for her Mum! GF was very pretty, but her Mum just had everything a boy could want!
Time to get this thread back on topic...
and don't forget the hazlenut in every bite!

The video's are quite telling on the standard of workmanship for the wall panels let alone anything else, the corners are chrome trim covered instead of being a post form edge, so either cheap panels without post form edges or they cut them off as they could not be bothered to measure properly.

Tell NICEIC that the contractor was using their logo and they will be up in court in double quick time. Tell ANY of the schemes about iffy workmanship and they will really not have much to say.
It isn't even in their remit to police anything.
Trading standards ? Possibly IF you could get a bored inspector who might know a regulation or 2 about electrical installations. But even in this case and it IS bad, What was the outcome? What damage was done? What "law" would they get dragged to court based upon?
Building control? They will just go after the householder for employing someone to do work in a notifiable location and for failing to notify.
It's not an offence to be a pretend electrician nor is it an offence to be rubbish at it...
