I would have never thought hacking would be an issue for these kinds of devices, everyday is a school day...

Seems to be a sensationalised story simply because it was a vibrator. (Like the type used on Chaturbate, where tips make it vibrate.... Not that I ever watch that stuff). But the same could be said of any blue tooth connected device. The ability, once connected, to access a users data will always be there... without proper security measures in place.

I hacked into my neighbours bluetooth light recently. The device appeared as available. So i googled it. Downloaded the app. I could then turn it on and set the light to disco mode and have it flashing to music off my ipad. I could look out window and his light reflected in the windows opposite. Simple things for simple minds i guess.....

All your tech is sending out info about you especially when IOT device is owned by a shop trying to sell you more junk. The money is not in the item you have just purchased for £40 but it’s the information it is learning about you to pass onto all it’s associated 3rd party companies. More money in data harvesting your life and flogging it to the highest bidder. Like giving them the keys to your house and bank and you thought giving your wife a credit card was expensive, problem is you can never escape the net and the big information providers manipulating the world we live.
