Hello everyone new to the forum. Apprentice in industry just before it was abolished. Sparky and Marine. 2391 but baffled. Why am I about to change another consumer unit and fit 25mm tails when the tails leading up to the meter are 10mm (pvc) and will probably stay like that for ever, because I'm not allowed to touch them and the electricity board never will.
When will they come to their senses about the sealed fuse. Exactly how are we supposed to work safely without pulling it. I wonder if anyone's ever shorted out the tails working live. Has anybody ever heard of anyone being prosecuted for breaking the seal?
I do quite a bit inspection and like it because I'm getting too old to knock holes in walls, but I'm constantly being told by people that you have to have "the NIC EIC qualification" to be able to do it. I'm an ELECSA Approved Contractor and on one occasion recently a Chartered Surveyor thought that an NIC EIC Domestic Installer would be acceptable but I wouldn't. Don't want to change to NIC EIC because it's so bloody expensive but this is getting to be a real problem. Does anyone else have trouble with this and how do you deal with it. Boatelec
