Hi i am trying to figure out if there is any requirement for ip ratings for sockets in a shed.

the distribution circuit is from an rcbo so rcd requirements are covered.

also the premsis is open to the public in the form of volunteers so the ip rating of that has been taken into accoutn with barriers and placing out of reach etc.

i am trying to find a mention of it in my 17th edition but cant seem to find anything specific.

thanks in advance

You will have to take guidance from section 522 of the Regs regarding external influences. That means as a designer you will have to risk assess the enviroment the installation is going in and erect accordingly. Spin as indentified water as one of these, but there will be other influences as well that you need to consider, ie mechanical protection, impact, fauna, etc etc.

There are numerous Regulations and Sections that apply.
131.2.1 Basic Protection (protection against direct contact).
131.2.2 Fault Protection (protection against direct contact).
132.5 Environmental conditions.
133 Selection of Electrical Equipment.
133.3 Conditions of Installation.
134 Erection and Initial Verification of Electrical Installations.
The lot above, are just in the first Chapter.
